Opportunity

Thinking about the promises that the Socialist/Communist DSA is offering made me think about a better way to help young people’s struggles…OPPORTUNITY.

Instead of just giving away FREE STUFF, create opportunities for success. That would mean creative ideas and more practical educational opportunities.

It’s like the adage, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.

I don’t think that our schools, on the whole, prepare students to compete in the real world. For my own experience, my college education in getting a degree in Commerce was too general. Not enough time was spent one-on-one between student and teacher to show the various opportunities currently available, since many students had no idea of what they wanted to do or what opportunities existed. Upon graduation, they had a meet-and-greet with various companies, but it really didn’t prepare you for life after college. Like most of us, it was more of a hit-and-miss working for different companies to get experience. I got lucky and ended up in the Broadcast Industry, which I loved. I spent my career in Radio, TV, and Advertising, yet never had a class in any of them.

It’s not like you are studying for a profession like a doctor or lawyer, etc.; you may just be unaware of what opportunities there are for success.
