The turtle who could not stop talking

I wrote this two years ago, and it applies doubly today to someone who has accomplished much but won’t stop talking about himself. He reminds me of a doctor who thought he was the most admired person in the world.

I remember reading this children’s book to our children about the turtle who wouldn’t stop talking. He talked to everyone and everything. One day, two geese flew onto his pond and asked if he would like to see a beautiful area where they lived instead of the muddy pond where he lived. He said yes, he would…only if you don’t talk, as we will be flying over a large body of water, said the geese. The turtle bit on the stick carried by the two geese, but when they were halfway over, the turtle started to talk, as was his nature, and predictably fell into the water.

This story reminds me of President Trump, who never seems to stop talking and is often quoted out of context.

One of the most egregious errors made by the mainstream media is to promote lies by using words out of context, especially Trump’s.

Recently, President Donald Trump was talking about the auto industry and how China was taking over EVs, and he said in part that “there would be a bloodbath to the auto industry if he was not reelected. This was related to a bloodbath in the auto industry and was about the Chinese automakers trying to get Mexico to get their cars to the United States. Trump said he would charge a 100% Tariff on them.

Elon Musk called out what he called “the legacy media lies” in reference to the Media coverage of Trump’s remarks, which were given out of context to portray a dire happening to America if he weren’t elected.

If Biden is reelected and Trump loses, you can attribute a major reason to a parable: “the turtle who could not stop talking”
