Suppy & Demand
Commerce ebbs and flows based on the demand for the product and the supply thereof. If the supply doesn’t meet the demand, the cost increases, and vice versa.
What if there were less demand for drugs?
During Prohibition, when liquor was declared illegal, Speakeasies grew to supply the demand. They only expanded because of the demand for liquor.
For us mortals, there are only two ways to get to the supply: NEED and OPPORTUNITY. We cannot control the NEED, only the OPPORTUNITY.
Scandals, thieves, cheating, and illegal activities exist in the same counterbalance as good and evil.
We need to work on better ways to lessen demand for drugs (NEED), whether through education or advances in medical applications. Illegal trafficking of drugs wouldn’t be as prevalent if the demand were less.
“Just say no” was a start. Much more needs to be done. Attacking the root cause is an important process. Cartels will exist as long as the demand remains high.
